MBDU® aka “Modern Battle Dress Uniform” is an excellent envision for a modern field uniform by Helikon. The trousers are a hybrid of more traditional trousers and combat pants: there’s no compartment for knee pad inserts but the lower back and crotch areas have elastic gussets and both the location and distribution of pockets are very functional. Most important features: Thigh cargo pockets close with two Canadian-style buttons. The opening has reinforced edges and is a bit stretched. The cargo pockets are a little shorter than usual so there’s not as much need to dig for your belongings. Hip pockets are divided into two parts, next to the regular spacious pocket there’s a deep and narrow pocket around the buttocks, sized for STANAG magazines. AK magazines also fit but their locking lug might snag. The pocket opening is reinforced and allows attachment of all kinds of clips. Hook-and-loop flapped calf pockets, in which wallet-sized items will fit Fly piece closes with a zipper and hook-and-loop. The hook-and-loop panels are generously sized and allow slight waistband adjustment if needed. The loop side on the fly piece is comfortably facing towards skin and thus the hook side won’t scratch it unpleasantly. Seven belt loops in total, width of 5 cm, of which the two foremost on each side are side by side. The loops above the hip pockets have attachment points for cords and carabiners Knee areas are double-lined to protect against wear and tear. In addition, they are profiled to better allow freedom of movement. Crotch and lower back areas have elastic gussets, allowing effortless judo kicks! Leg openings adjust with shock cord and cord lock Primary material is ripstop reinforced fabric, which is 52% nylon and 48% cotton. The fly piece zipper is manufactured by YKK. Lightweight: size S weighs 690 g, size M 730 g, size L 740 g, size XL 760 g, size XXL 790 g and size XXXL 820 g. Ripstop Ripstop refers to a special treatment stage during which fabric-reinforcing threads (e.g. nylon) are sewn horizontally and vertically into the fabric forming a net of small squares, around 1 cm in size. This treatment stops the fabric from ripping, which means that it extends the life span of the garment. The ripstop treatment can be made to almost any fabric.
